It’s too bad we still need feminist t-shirts

Location: Kingston Community House at 99 York

Dates: March 12th 1-4 and  April 22nd 1-4

In this participatory arts workshop, at the Kingston Community House at 99 York, we’re gathering  feminist slogans and images from Kingston residents and organizations to use in a screen printing workshop.  Do you have ideas for a phrase that you’d like to see on a t-shirt, an image that supports feminist ideas, and really speaks to you? Send your suggestions to info@kingstoncommunityhouse.org. or call 613 546-1136.

Ideas can be as rough or polished as you like. Our team of graphic designers will tweak the designs so they’re extra brilliant, and then invite community members to come spend an afternoon at 99 York screen printing! All materials supplied but bring something of yours to print if you like.

We’re aware that feminism, especially now, is vibrantly alive, and perhaps more diverse than ever before.  We are especially interested in promoting slogans and images that empower women of colour, First Nations women, the LGBTQ community, and all other women, men and children who embrace equality and human rights.

Registration for this event soon by contacting us at kingstoncommunityhouse.org.  In these troubled times let’s get organized, make art, and have some fun.

To enrich this experience, we are interested in hearing why a particular slogan or image is meaningful to you, and if you would like to share some words for us to think about while we work on these images.  This isn’t necessary, and we’re happy to consider any images or phrases, whether accompanied by some words or not. We’d like to post these on the Kingston Community House website with pictures of the workshop.
